Privacy Statement
We are pleased that you are using our learning platform. In the following, we would like to inform you about the handling of your data according to Art. 13 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Responsible Person
The people named in the above imprint are responsible for the data collection and processing shown below.
Storage of the IP Address
We store the IP address transmitted by your web browser strictly for a specific purpose for a period of seven days in the interest of being able to identify, limit, and eliminate attacks on our website. After this period of time, we delete or anonymise the IP address. The legal basis is Art. 6, Para. 1, lit. F, GDPR.
User Data
When you visit our learning platform, so-called usage data is temporarily stored as a log on our web server for statistical purposes in order to improve the quality of our learning platform. This data set consists of:
In addition, the following data can be saved as long as you are registered on the learning platform:
In addition, the learning progress, test results, and survey results are saved. The learning platform has an internal e-mail function and various collaboration tools. The data you enter in these tools will be saved together with your name and may also be visible to other users (e.g.: the recipient of an e-mail can read the e-mail you have written).
All of the above data will be deleted upon completion of your registration on the platform. This does not apply to forum posts you have written. These are only anonymised so that the sense of the communication is not lost to other users.
Data Security
We take technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unwanted access as comprehensively as possible. We use an encryption method on our website. Your details are transmitted from your computer to our server and vice versa via the Internet using TLS encryption. You can recognise this by the fact that the lock symbol in the status bar of your browser is closed and the address line begins with https://.
Transfer of Data to Third Parties
We do not transfer your personal data to third parties.
Cookies
We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that can be saved and read on your device. A distinction is made between session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close your browser, and permanent cookies, which are stored beyond the individual session. Cookies can contain data that enable the device used to be recognised. In some cases, however, cookies only contain information about certain settings that cannot be related to a person.
We use session cookies on our website. The processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6, Abs. 1, lit. f GDPR and in the interest of optimising or enabling user guidance and adapting the presentation of our website.
You can set your browser so that it informs you about the placement of cookies. Thus, the use of cookies becomes transparent for you. You can also delete cookies at any time using the appropriate browser setting and prevent new cookies from being set. Please note that our website may then not be displayed optimally and that some functions are technically no longer available.
Your Rights as a User
When processing your personal data, the GDPR grants you, as a website user, certain rights:
1. Right to Information (Art. 15 GDPR):
You have the right to request confirmation as to whether personal data relating to you is being processed. If this is the case, you have a right to information about this personal data and the information listed in detail in Art. 15 GDPR.
2. Right to Correction and Deletion (Art. 16 and 17 GDPR):
You have the right to immediately request the correction of incorrect personal data concerning you and, if necessary, the completion of incomplete personal data.
You also have the right to request that personal data relating to you be deleted immediately if one of the reasons listed in Art. 17 GDPR applies (e.g.: if the data is no longer required for the purposes pursued).
3. Right to Restriction of Processing (Art. 18 GDPR):
You have the right to request the restriction of processing if one of the conditions listed in Art. 18 GDPR is met (e.g.: if you have objected to the processing for the duration of a possible review).
4. Right to Data Transferability (Art. 20 GDPR):
In certain cases, which are listed in detail in Art. 20 GDPR, you have the right to receive the personal data concerning you in a structured, conventional, and machine-readable format or to request the transfer of this data to a third party.
5. Right of Objection (Art. 21 GDPR):
If data based on Art. 6, Para. 1, lit. f is collected (data processing to safeguard legitimate interests), you have the right to object to processing at any time for reasons that arise from your particular situation. We will then no longer process the personal data unless there are demonstrably compelling reasons worthy of protection for the processing that outweigh the interests, rights, and freedoms of the data subject, or the processing serves to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims.
6. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority
According to Art. 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that the processing of the data concerning you violates data protection regulations. The right to lodge a complaint can, in particular, be asserted with a supervisory authority in the member state of your place of residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged violation.
7. Automatic Decision-Making
As a website user, you have the right not to be subjected to fully automated processing that would have legal effect for you or that would significantly impair you. The legal basis is Art. 22 GDPR. Automated decision-making may be carried out if this is necessary for the conclusion or performance of a contract, national exemption regulations exist, or you expressly consent to the process. If one of the exceptions applies, we guarantee appropriate measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms.
If you would like to assert your rights, please contact our data protection officer.
